Science fair

At the bis since fair we got to look at all the really cool science projects everyone was working on really hard. Some people got prizes like first second and third Harry and I got commended work. The people who got first second or third get to go to the inter schools and possibly win a prize. The science fair was really fun and we got to see tons of cool experiments made by other people.

by Spider and Harry
On the 11th of july 2013 room 15 won the interclass basketball championship. The team was Kameran,  Nash, Sophie, olivia, Temeka, Alec and Billy. We played room 20 in the final the score was quite close at half time but in the second half we started to smash them. The starting lineup was Kameran, Nash, Billy, Sophie and Olivia. This is the second sport that we have won.

Science with Craig

The Isel team went to the top basketball court to see Mr. Maybe's science experiment. All we could see were washing liquids and an ice box full of dry ice. He put four bits of dry ice into two cups and poured cold water into one cup and hot water into the other. A reaction started to happen and the cup with cold water had steam coming out of it. The same thing happened to the cup with hot water and then he put washing liquid into both cups and then it started to blow up all these bubbles and whenever someone touched them they evaporated into smoke. It all looked really cool.

Vortex Rings

At assembly on Friday, Mr. Maybe showed us vortex rings made from a bucket/trash bin.

The way it worked was you tightly fit a shower curtain over the lid end of the bin, and cut a hole on the bottom of the bin. Then you get a smoke machine and fill up the inside of the bin with smoke. Then what you did was whack the shower curtain on the bin and a small ring of smoke would pop out and go flying off!

Room 15 got the honor of making one of the bins so we got to use it first! Some people put cups on their heads and the people holding the bins knocked them off. It  looked so awesome and everyone had a great time using them. (except the people who didn't use them!)

B.I.S 2013 Stage Challenge

Schools from all around the Nelson region are coming together to perform at the Trafalgar Centre on the 27th of May this Monday and Broadgreen will be performing.

Alot of people from Broadgreen are in Stage Challenge so they have the opportunity to perform in front of hundreds of people which is scary but also exciting.

Room 15 has alot of people away because of stage challenge those involved are Billy, Pirran, Rhys,  Will, Ashleigh, Eva, Hannah, Livs and Katie. The Stage challenge people have been working really hard in these past couple of months and I'm sure people won't be disappointed when they perform at the Trafalgar Centre on Monday.

The whole school has seen Stage Challenge and we all loved it and thought it was awesome.

So let's all wish them luck when they perform tonight and hope that they do the best they can.

Room15 Art

This is some of Room 15's art.

We did hot and cold paintings using red and blue colours.

We blended blue and red with black and white colours.  Then we cut the paper in half and on one half we cut out triangles or circles and glued them on the other half, contrasting them (trying not to get black with black and red with red).

The pastel art we did with the six pictures and three colours.  We drew the six pictures and then coloured them in using four different colours for the back ground and they ended out looking  excellent.

Then we did monster names which is with our names.  We doubled them beside each other and then we decided where the eyes mouth and nose would go.  Next we drew them in and coloured the rest of the  letters  using only three colours.  Then you colour the background in one solid colour.

We think they look really cool.

Room 15 Movie Night

Last night in Room 15 we had a movie night.

Some people got couches and, pillows and bean bags from other rooms to sit on. We watched Jumanji which is a magical board that comes to life. At 5 o'clock we stopped to eat our fish'n'chips from Two Little Fish Takaways, they very kindly delivered them!  We then watched the rest of the movie and cleaned up afterwards and went home.
It was a lot of fun and we hope to have another one!

SCIENCE WITH MANDY

On Tuesday, Room 15 did science with Mandy (Pirran's mummy). We got film canisters and filled them
with either milk, vinegar, water or lemonade. Then we got the lid of the film canister and put paste on it which contained meths, citric acid and baking soda. We then put then lid on the canister and tipped it upside down and got out of the way! It took about 10 to 30 seconds the canister exploded upwards.
We had lots of fun doing these experiments.
